5.14 Marco Damonte – L’importanza epistemica della tradizione

Starting from the consideration that in the West philosophical notion of tradition is linked the contribution of Christianity, the aim of my paper is to scrutinize this notion from the point of view of the analytic philosophy of religion. Newman’s classic paradigm on this subject has been drawn from Wittgensteinian Thomists, in particular from McCabe, Kenny and Haldane who underline the epistemological and the anthropological aspects of his reflection. In this fashion a comparison with wittgensteinian suggestions is necessary to evaluate the historical and the social claim of every belief.
