N.12 FLOURISHING. VALUES, VIRTUES AND RIGHTS. CFP IS NOW OPEN.
Flourishing. Values, Virtues and Rights
DEADLINE: 1st AUGUST 2016.
The term of “flourishing” is a well-known concept in philosophical and moral thought. It alludes to a preferential dynamic of development starting from some potentialities, on which are grounded the possibilities to recognize an objective and at the same time very personal good, and to feel fully realized. In the philosophical literature the term “flourishing” in fact is used in current so-called virtue ethics, which wishes to distance itself as much from deontology as from utilitarianism. This issue of Philosophical News, however, aims to broaden the scope of application of that notion, exploring its possible uses in other branches of philosophy, as well as in other branches of the humanities such as sociology, psychology, or law.
As the refereeing process will start immediately at submission, early submissions are encouraged. We also accept book reviews (before writing the review please submit your request by email including all the details of the book and wait for confirmation) and reports of recent philosophical events (workshops, conferences that happened between the following dates: 2016, 1st January-1st June).
All papers have to be prepared for peer-review double blind refereeing. Articles submitted for publication normally range from min. of 25.000 to max. 40.000 characters. Languages admitted are: English, Italian, French, Spanish, German. Only electronic submissions are accepted to: philosophicalnews@gmail.
We are looking forward to receiving your submission.
